Tom Latham became a Christian while serving in the U.S. Navy, where he began holding Protestant Divine Services whenever his ship was at sea. After completing his naval service, he spent the next four years at Bible College to further his spiritual journey. He achieved a significant milestone in his studies by earning a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree from Luther Rice Seminary. 

After his third year of Bible college, Tom and Penny Stimpson got married. Then they spent the next five years doing continued studies. Together, they began a mission to serve God in Brazil and established four thriving churches. Their family grew to include three children, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. 

Tom founded and coached a successful wrestling program that won state and national team titles in Brazil. Dr. Latham’s deep faith, practical wisdom, and commitment to the Great Commission have made him a respected leader in the Baptist missionary community and a much-loved pastor to the people he ministers to in Brazil. Although Penny was promoted to Glory, Tom continues to serve Christ in Brazil.
